tibits by Hiltl
The name tibits, derived from the English word «titbits/tidbits», represents indulgent, fresh and healthy products. As quick as fast food, yet comfortable like high-class café-food, that's tibits.
Equipped with the idea of opening up vegetarian fast food restaurants, three brothers, Reto, Christian and Daniel Frei, took part in the business plan competition Venture 98 run by ETH Zurich (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich) and the management consultancy McKinsey (www.venture.ch). The business plan convinced the jury and the concept was given two awards. The positive reactions by the industry and the media interest for the project convinced the three brothers to implement their idea. However, they lacked a hospitality professional for the implementation. Rolf and Marielle Hiltl, proprietors of the Hiltl restaurant (www.hiltl.ch), Europe's oldest and leading vegetarian restaurant, learnt about the project in the media and contacted the Frei brothers. The chemistry was right from the very start, the addition was perfect. In hospitality terms, tibits is building on the 100 year-old experience of the Hiltl restaurant; tradition and innovation are linked in a harmonious way. Tibits offers proven and successful Hiltl products such as the unique salad buffet and daily squeezed juices, but also new, innovative products especially developed for tibits.
